Corona~1

Ten times more power in the green to enhance your productivity.

The 75W Corona diode-pumped Q-switched green laser.
It used to be that you got high power only from inefficient, standard lamp-based infrared YAG lasers. Or, you could get good processing efficiency at visible wavelengths from Copper Vapor Lasers, but you'd have to work with a difficult and complex technology. That compromise is now ended. Because now there's Corona: a new, high power, Q-switched green laser that provides extremely high performance - up to ten times the repetition rate and power-in a compact and reliable diodepumped package. A truly powerful combination. A new level of speed and efficiency for scientific and industrial applications. 532 CORONA: Now there's a way to get the laser power and performance you've been wanting for your research or commercial applications. The new green-wavelength (532 nm) CoronaTM is ideal for both materials processing and for pumping Ti:Sapphire and dye amplifier systems. With its intracavity-doubled design, the Q-switched Corona laser provides average powers in excess of 75W at a 10 kHz repetition rate. What's more, because the cavity design has been optimized for maximum reliability and adaptability, this rate is easily and continuously variable from 1 kHz to 25 kHz. The result is an extremely versatile laser that's well-suited for the widest variety of scientific and industrial applications-from pumping amplifiers for ultrafast spectroscopy, isotope separation and guide-star projection to materials processing. Not only that, you also benefit from Coherent's customer support and application experience, ensuring that you have the ideal source for your particular application. compact rugged high-power Compact, easy to use, proven design. In designing the Corona laser, Coherent started with no pre-existing platform constraints. The result is a product of technical superiority in a compact and rugged package of only 24" x 7.5" x 5," ensuring that it will fit comfortably into any larger multi-laser amplifier or processing system. The laser utilizes a combination of proven and reliable materials in Nd:YAG, 808 nm laser diodes, and LBO frequencydoubling crystals, with conservative ratings of all components to ensure long-life operation. Once up and running, all operational, monitoring, diagnostic, and control features are available to you via an easy-to-read and easyto- use graphical interface running under a multi-tasking Java* platform on a convenient laptop computer. Processing potential. Even though numerous materials have been known for some time to preferentially absorb and be processed by visible light, the lack of a suitable industrial source has restricted the implementation of green laser systems for most commercial applications. But now, the Corona changes all that- whether drilling high-precision holes for fuel injectors, or performing laser depositioning or ablation, or simply cutting or marking. Unlike standard lamp-based infrared YAG lasers, the 532 nm Corona can process many of today's new materials with a remarkable degree of efficiency, as demonstrated by Copper Vapor Laser (CVL) systems, at comparable power and repetition rates. Corona is the ideal combination of power and efficiency for commercial machining applications in the visible: The performance benefits of a CVL, with the size, reliability, and cost advantages of DPSS. Micromachining PCB Drilling Fuel Injection Drilling MAT E R I A L S P RO C E S S I N G produce 10x the throughput. Performance benefits. In addition to the increased manufacturing throughput enabled by the Corona's high repetition rate and exceptionally low noise, the laser's short pulsewidth results in elevated green peak power levels which have the potential for more effective conversion to UV wavelengths. The Corona's superior pulse performance also helps researchers get results in a much more timely manner than is possible with current lamp-pumped lasers. Corona's higher repetition rates mean that data can be collected, or samples processed, much more quickly. And that, in turn, means that your results are produced faster. And, ultimately, that your productivity is enhanced. Industry-leading support. With our long heritage as a pioneer in the laser industry, Coherent is continually at the forefront of new laser innovations. These include significant improvements in ease of use and integration. Corona continues this tradition, building on Coherent's experience in manufacturing diode-pumped green lasers to produce the highest performance Q-switched system for scientific and industrial applications. Beyond the lasers themselves, Coherent offers the most extensive worldwide support in the industry, including telephone, fax, email, and Internet product assistance. Yag40

The Emerald is a high power, frequency doubled, Q-switched NdYAG laser operating at 532nm. It is the only commercial laser system designed and built in the UK specifically for the leisure market.

The laser resonator is based on a unique in-line design in which none of the second harmonic green light is lost, due to coating deficiencies, as is the case with some folded cavity designs.

The design allows operation at lower lamp currents than existing models, reducing total heat dissipation at maximum power to 5 kW.

The design produces enhanced beam quality, reducing both beam diameter and divergence, with excellent stability and hands-off operation. Warm up time is less than five minutes.

The system is micro-processor controlled with monitoring of all key parameters, and LCD display for status messages.

A water to water heat exchanger, which maintains the coolant at a precise temperature, is included in the basic package, together with cables and hoses.
